In the poem Casehistory: Alison (head injury), U.A. Fanthorpe shows readers a quality who is having a monologue. By showing the readers the feelings of the speaker towards her impersonate self-importance and junior self, the poem shows how disappointed the speaker is towards her present maintain as an long timed person.
The speaker intentionally uses different pronouns to speech communication the present self and the young self to build both individuals in readers mind. The present self is very likely in senility with a damaged brain (26) which suggests a bad memory resulting from aging. In the speakers eyes, although the two selves are one person, age has made her a completely different individual from her younger self.
Being aware of the differences, the speaker further distinguishes her present and younger self by painting a positive contrive for the younger self but a negative witness on the present self. The changes are so great that they cause wonder (5) to the speaker. She cannot believe that she had been slim in the past when she is promptly fat (5).
