The Great Gatsby

In the story The Great Gatsby, there are umteen corrupted relationships. George & Myrtle, Myrtle & Tom, Tom & Daisy, Daisy & Gatsby, and Gatsby & everyone are all complete examples of misleading relationships seen in the sweet. Fitzgerald may bet pessimistic in portraying every relationship as a fraud. The swindling and mathematical functions that go on throughout the book instal that there is no substance in any of the relationships to keep on them bonded. By sneaking behind their loved ones back and having an affair with one of the some other characters shows betrayal to their partner.

Gatsbys relationship with his jockstraps was damaged by lack of loyalty. Apparently Gatsby had many friends during his life, none of which opinionated to go to his funeral. While he was alive, throwing huge parties, Gatsby started to be the midriff of attention. When he died, it seemed like he had never existed. The only friend who decided to go to Gatsbys funeral was his neighbor, Nick.

The marriages in this novel appear blissful, but are dysfunctional in reality. Tom and Daisy would come up across as a nice, happily married couple, you would never be able to tell that Tom had a mistress and Daisy was still in love with another man. Toms mistress, Myrtle, was married as well. She was already married to George Wilson, Toms mechanic.



Since they werent satisfied by their marriages they resorted to affairs; betraying their spouses in guild to pay back the affection they needed. Affairs seemed to be the healthiest relationships in the novel because they were built on the individuals desire for one another, not silver or possessions. Tom and Myrtle were together regardless of the event that they were both married to other individuals. They loved each other much like a married couple would.
