Gendering Children

Is there such thing as a conceal curriculum in school that creates natural differences between genders? Data and Method
The data for this study came from the extensive and detailed observations of tailfin preschool classrooms that consisted of boys and girls ranging from three to five years old. Four of these classrooms were part of a preschool located close to the campus of a large university (Preschool A), and the fifth classroom (Preschool B) was a preschool run by a catholic church in the same city as preschool A. The curriculums and routines of the two preschools were rattling similar with the exception that preschool B contained some religious counselling such as requiring children to pray before their snack.



In preschool B, the childrens activities focused more on the religious aspect of holidays than did the activities of children in preschool A.
There were a total of 112 children in this study, 42 share girls and 58 percent boys. The researchers observed the classrooms about three measure a week for eight months. Girls and boys were observed for equal amounts of clip and researchers were careful not to observe only the most active, outgoing, or popular kids. They focused on the childrens body movement, use of space, and the physical contact among children or between children and teachers.
